It's time to meet another of To Baby and Beyond's students. Amy has taken both our baby massage and baby yoga courses. Let's find out a bit more about her:

Name: Amy Church

Lives: Stapleford, Nottingham

What do you teach? Baby massage and baby yoga

How long have you been an instructor? Baby massage - over 2 years. Baby yoga - 5 months.

What made you want to become an instructor? I wanted a new challenge that would work alongside my nanny jobs.

Have you always been an instructor? I've always worked in the childcare industry, starting out as a nursery nurse and then becoming a full-time nanny.

What's your favourite part of your job? Variety and helping new parents.

How do you keep your skills up to date? Asking people how they incorporate ideas and I also use my skills as a nanny to include new sensory ideas, by using my EYFS* to help with communication and language.

Do you have any favourite websites that you use? To Baby and Beyond Facebook page

What qualities do you think are important in a baby yoga or massage instructor? Creating a calm, warming environment, as I find it keeps parents and babies relaxed.

What benefits do you derive from baby yoga and massage? I find it very calming, and baby yoga has also helped me keep in shape throughout my own pregnancy.

Have you learnt anything surprising about baby massage or yoga? How sticking to a rigid lesson plan can sometimes not work; most of the time in baby yoga I find I swap and change things when I need to keep parents and babies engaged.

What's your top tip for baby massage or yoga? Stay calm, as if something goes wrong it helps not to show it.

Have you had an amusing experience in your work as an instructor? Forgetting my massage oils the other week, and having to run downstairs right before class started to get some. Luckily, I work at a Tesco community room! I blame baby brain that day.

Who would you most like to teach on one of your courses? To my family members when the baby is born, as I always want them to have a bond with my baby

Thanks Amy! Amy undertook our Infant Massage and Baby Yoga Yoga instructor courses, and now runs classes for parents in her neighbourhood.
