Name: Keri Hartwright
Lives: Bexley, SE London
What do you teach? Baby massage plus other baby-focused workshops
How long have you been an instructor? Two months
What made you want to become an instructor? I love working with babies and did baby massage with my own daughter who loved it. We still practice it now even though she is really ticklish. I think all the benefits are absolutely amazing especially for those with additional needs / pre term babies.
Have you always been an instructor? I am a paediatric nurse and qualified public health nurse
Why did you chose To Baby and Beyond for your training? I like the fact that the course is accredited and you could choose to do a combined course with some online and some face to face.
What did you like best about the training with To Baby and Beyond? Convenient and blended learning.
What’s your favourite part of your job? Meeting babies and watching them develop over a few weeks. The changes are amazing. Plus occasionally you get to have cuddles which is the biggest bonus of all.
How do you keep your skills up to date? I haven’t done any further professional development since qualifying but would look to do so in the near future.
What qualities do you think are important in a baby massage instructor? Approachable. Friendly. Knowledgeable.
What benefits do you derive from baby massage? Interactions with mothers and babies are what drives me forward.
Have you learnt anything surprising about massage? I learnt a lot which I didn’t previously know.
What’s your top tip for massage? Be prepared for a lot of noise and chaos if you have a big group of babies!
