Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
This is a one-day course approved by the HSE. The course covers the basic elements of first aid and can be tailored to suit any organisation. We are a Qualsafe Training Centre which means our courses are approved and recognised by the HSE.
Duration
A minimum of 6 hours consisting of theoretical and practical activities.
Syllabus
A range of subjects is covered including:

•First aid kits and record keeping

•Assessment of the situation

•Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
-
•Resuscitation and choking
-
•Heart attacks and angina
-
•Basic hygiene in First Aid
-
•Bleeding control and shock
-
•Burns and scolds
-
•Possible fractures
-
•Seizures
-
•Diabetes
Certification
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor, and a 3-year qualification will be issued to those who meet the criteria. In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of about 3 hours, although it is not mandatory.
Numbers
A maximum of 12 students are allowed and must be aged a minimum of 16 years or above. Bigger groups can be catered for, but the ratio must not exceed 12 students per instructor.
Tutors
All of our courses are taught by Registered Nurses who are also experienced first aid tutors

We are able to deliver this course at your work place, reducing your costs in respect of additional time out and travelling. If you only have a small number who need training then please contact us for course availability in your area.
