Paediatric First Aid Course for

Childminders, Nannies, Early Years

and Child Care Workers

Taught exclusively by Paediatric Nurses

This Paediatric First Aid Course in Brighton and

Hove, London and across the UK on request,

focuses on emergency scenarios that are faced

by professionals, including teachers, au pairs,

childminders and play group leaders, looking

after young children.

It meets OFSTED requirements for registered childminders, nursery staff and nannies. This course also meets the criteria set out by the EYFS.

This course has been assessment and is validated by Brighton and Hove Councils Early Years Service. To Baby and Beyond are and approved trainer of Paediatric First Aid for Brighton and Hove Council.

It can also be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ

in Childcare and Education.

Who should attend?

This course is for people working with younger children - those up to eight years old – or working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education. Child minders, nannies, home care workers, support workers, nursery staff, after school staff, teachers etc......

What you will learn?

The course covers how to deal with accidents and emergencies involving young children.

The Course Content is as follows

1. ★    First aid kit - what they need to contain and why
   

2. ★    Action planning
   

3. ★    Treatment of an unconscious casualty and the recovery position
   

4. ★    Resuscitation
   

5. ★    Choking
   

6. ★    Asthma and diabetic emergencies
   

7. ★    Head injuries
   

8. ★    Seizures
   

9. ★    Bleeding
   

10. ★    Burns and scolds
    

11. ★    Sprains, strains and fractures
    

12. ★    Poisoning, bites and stings
    

13. ★    Foreign objects
    

14. ★    Childhood conditions (e.g. measles, meningitis, croup).
    

Course duration: 12 hours.

Courses are facilitated by Experienced Qualified Paediatric Nurses also qualified in Early Years First Aid and Teaching Adult Learners

We use up to date information from the Resuscitation Council and ensure that the course fully meet the requirements for your workplace and any regulatory body such as Ofsted.

Our aim is to run interesting and informative courses which combine therapy and practical activities to empower professionals to feel competent in their skills in the workplace.

Sessions can be run during the day, in the evening or at weekends.
