About Nappy Wraps
Nappy / diaper wraps /covers are used over cloth nappies as a natural, environmentally friendly alternative to disposable nappies.  The nappy wraps need to be washed with a lanolising solution 2/3 times prior to use and then occasionally to maintain the lanolising properties.  The lanolised wool works by having a neutralising effect on babies  urine which helps prevent odours and acts as a waterproofing barrier.

The nappy wraps only need washing every couple of weeks, unless soiled, but should be aired between uses.  If the wraps start to be less effective this is because they need to be re-lanolised.  Lanolising solution is available from various websites including Ebay.
Advantages and Disadvantages

1.  Benefit to baby is they reduce (or eliminate) nappy rash, are more
comfortable than plastic nappies and more flexible when baby becomes active.
2.  Benefits to parents in that they are cheaper than disposable nappies and do not need to be bought regularly.
3.  Benefits to environment in that there are no disposal effects, the product
is natural and from a renewable source (the organic undyed Merino wool is the most environmentally friendly as no polluting dyes used).  Processing the wool to a useable product is less polluting than continued manufacture of disposable nappies.
4.  The only disadvantage appears to be that they need to be laundered.
All of our nappy wraps are hand knitted in the UK to order. They are made from a quality 100% pure wool (usually Merino) and are also available in 100% organic undyed Merino wool.  Merino is a soft wool, from the Merino breed of sheep, making it ideal for baby's delicate skin.

They are supplied before lanolising so need to be treated before use.  They are available in different styles and sizes.  Colours are pastels and brights subject to availibility and the organic undyed merino is a natural off white/cream colour.  They can be adjusted at the waist to allow a snug fit.

'Shorties' can be used under clothing, as shorts or to replace PJ bottoms at night.  Long and crop length are suitable for cooler weather.  Properties of wool are that it is warm in cold weather but in warm weather allows skin to breathe.
