What is Infant Massage?

Infant massage is one of the easiest and most pleasant methods of providing early positive interaction through bonding, trust and relief. Infant massage incorporates nurturing touch, massage and reflexology.


Parents, grandparents, primary care givers can easily learn infant massage. Infant massage is fun, easy and babies can enjoy the benefits of a healthy touch.


Teaching parents and carers to massage their infants safely and effectively can be incredibly rewarding. Over just a few weeks you will notice babies and parents becoming calming and enhancing their attachments with each other. Infant massage is an ever growing activity for parents with young babies and is well recognised for the well being benefits by both families and health care professional.


Aim: To provide practitioners with the knowledge and teaching ability to safely and effectively deliver infant massage sessions and courses in a variety of setting to various individuals and groups.


Prerequisites for the Diploma in Teaching Infant Massage
All participants must have previous qualifications or experience in one the following:

  1. Childcare practitioners such as nursery staff,

  2. Sure Start workers,

  3. Massage therapy,

  4. Bodywork,

  5. Anatomy and Physiology,

  6. Health care such as nurses, health visitors and midwives

  7. Parents/ carers who have undertaken baby massage courses with their babies.

3 consecutive days, self directed study and practice case studies

  10. Running infant massage courses


Qualification

Diploma in Teaching Infant Massage (Instructor Course)


Accreditation

This Course is fully accredited as a Core Therapy by the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA) and has been awarded 30 CPD Points. You can therefore join the CTha’s Professional Register and  gain insurance for your practice.


Equipment needed: Each participant must bring a doll (preferable soft bodied), towel, small blanket and cushion.


Cost:

Open courses in Hove: £395 per person (£375 early Bird Rate ask for details) Includes tuition, handouts, and certification

Maximum 8-10 participants per group

Our Diploma in Teaching Infant Massage is facilitated by Julie Cleasby, an experienced infant massage instructor who has specialist experience and training in working with babies, children and families. She is a registered Paediatric Nurse and Health Visitor and has additional qualifications in teaching adult learners.


Julie has many years experience working with and training health professionals, child care workers and parents. We use a range of teaching methods appropriate to the course and to engage learners in a fun and interesting way.


Julie has extensive experience in using Infant Massage with families and children within both the hospital environment and community setting. This means she brings bring experiential knowledge to the training.


Julie has been successfully running her own business for 3 years and can there fore offer marketing advice and opportunities to get your business off to a flying start.
