First Aid for Children
Children’s First Aid Course
These courses are designed with
children in mind. These courses can
cover a range of topics dependant on
the age of children. Aimed at children
from 6 years upwards.
Recent research shows that over half of children in the UK would not
know how to carry out live-saving first aid at the scene of an accident. A new UK-wide survey conducted for the British Red Cross and Toyota by The Children’s Forum found that over half (60%) of children who are currently most at risk from road traffic accidents (those aged 9 – 13) do not have enough knowledge of first aid to help themselves and others at the scene of a traffic accident. Despite their lack of knowledge the majority (94%) of children agreed that it was very important for them to learn first aid and most wanted to learn more.
Topics can include:
When do you know if someone if ill
How to go and get / ring for help - who to contact and what to say
How to put ill people in a safe position and why
Basic life saving skills
How to deal with common injuries such as burns and scolds, ingestion's, objects, falls, cuts and grazes
How to not get injured and avoid accidents covering garden safety, car and road safety, home safety.
Other topics can be included as well.
Practising techniques on manikins, dolls and teddies!
Duration: 1 1/2 hours ( longer courses can be arranged)
Cost?
Group sessions:
£15 per child
Arrange it yourself in your home ‘At Home Sessions’:
For up to 6 children: £90, each extra child £15 per child up to 8 people in total
