To Baby and Beyond

“ It was really nice to come to a class and take an hour out of my busy week just to massage my baby”

FAQ’s - Baby Massage

How big are the groups?

We keep to groups to a maximum of 8-10 parents and babies to enable everyone to feel comfortable and able to learn in a friendly environment.  You can book a complete course for you and your friends in either one of the centres or your own home. Discounts are available for home courses - see below. Popular with NCT groups.

What oil do you use and do I need to bring my own?

We use pure vegetable oil to massage the babies, with no scent or perfume.  The oil we currently use is Organic Sunflower Oil. Oils such as grape seed, sunflower, calendula or olive oil (all cold-pressed) are the best for your baby’s skin.  We do not use Essential Oils or (Mineral) ‘Baby Oil’.  We will provide the oil we will be using, which you get to keep during the course and for use at home once the classes end. If you are using any creams or oils for infantile ezcema or dry skin then you are welcome to massage your baby with those so please bring them along.

Do we get notes to take home?

We will provide your course notes, research and articles at the first class.  This includes helpful hints or tips for massaging your baby from other mums who have attended the course.

What does the price include?

The price includes baby massage tuition, massage oil, handouts & course booklet, 10% off any of out other courses.

What do I need to bring?

A towel (we will be taking your baby’s nappy off to massage him/her!) and a spare nappy. Please also bring a small blanket, which will be used to keep your baby warm whilst teaching.

What do I need to wear?

As we are working on the floor, please wear loose, comfy clothes.

What about if my baby has just had immunisations?

It is not recommended that babies are massaged within 24 hours of immunisations however if this coincides with the class dates if is still helpful to come along and watch as everything is repeated and built on each week so you will not miss anything.

My baby is 7 months old and starting to move can I join a course?

Yes we now offer a ‘Wrigglers’ 3 week course for either babies who have completed the Tiddlers course or to to wriggly to join it!!

My baby is really unsettled and is 3 weeks old can I join a course?

We recommend that babies are 6 weeks old before joining the 4 or 5 week course as they tend to tolerate it better then. We do offer a 45 minute ‘Teenies’ workshop for parents wanting to learn basic massage skills to use on young babies at home. Babies can come along or you can bring a doll or teddy to practice on. You can then join the full course when your baby is old enough.
