Baby and Child First Aid Course

for Expectant Parents, Parents,

Grandparents and Carers

Classes cover what do if a baby or

child is choking, not breathing or

unconscious, first responder actions

for common accidents and injuries, recognising high risk signs of illness and assessing the injured or ill child.

The courses are specifically designed to teach parents, grandparents and carers basic life saving and first aid techniques. These are approximately 3 hour sessions that can be run for a number of participants. Courses run as either adults only or as ‘Bring Your Baby” sessions. Courses are available at set venues across Sussex or can be arranged in your own home in the Sussex and wider area.

This course will teach you the emergency life saving techniques you will need if your baby or child stops breathing, becomes unconscious or is choking. It will also cover first responder actions to common accidents, illnesses and injuries.

This course will cover:

★ How to deal with choking in a baby, child or adult
★ The recovery position
★ Basic Life support on babies, children and adults.
★ Accident prevention with young children

The course will also cover (time permitting) how to manage:

★ Burns and Scalds
★ Poisoning
★ Ingestion
★ Foreign Objects
★ Head Injuries
★ Febrile Convulsions and Fits
★ Recognising Meningitis
★ Essential information about safety in

the home and garden

Duration: 3 hours

Longer more in depth courses are available on request. We also offer a course focusing only on Resuscitation and Choking in Babies and Children.

You will have with ample opportunity to practice life saving techniques in a friendly and non threatening environment. Great for parents, carers, nannies, grand parents and anyone else caring for a babies and children.

Bring Your Baby Sessions

Most of Our Venues are baby friendly and you can ‘Bring Your Baby’ if you wish however you may find it easier to concentrate without. This to give parents the option to bring baby along if child care is an issue however if you would like to attend these sessions without your baby that’s OK as well. Please check when booking.
